Ligaya Salazar

Director and Commissioner, Fashion Space Gallery

Ligaya Salazar is the founding director and commissioner of Fashion Space Gallery at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. Since the gallery's opening in 2012, she has commissioned and curated an extraordinary range of exhibitions, events and public programmes that have established Fashion Space Gallery as one of the most important contemporary art and fashion spaces in the UK.

Under her leadership, the gallery has presented work by artists, designers, photographers and curators including Rainer Ganahl, United Visual Artists, Simon Costin, E-J Scott, Anna Ehrenstein and Iain McKell, alongside major monographic exhibitions dedicated to figures including Jean Paul Gaultier and Coco Chanel.

Salazar's curatorial practice is distinguished by its commitment to fashion as a serious field of cultural, political and artistic enquiry — and by its dedication to making the gallery's programme accessible to diverse audiences, including through extensive education and public engagement work.

Before joining Fashion Space Gallery, she worked as a curator and producer at institutions including the V&A and the ICA, and has collaborated with artists and designers internationally.
